BAGh-I BAHAR - AN IMPORTANT PROSE STORY

Mathnavi Saif-al Muluk and Badi-al Jamal is a mythical parable which became popular worldwide especially in the sub-continent. Many poets and authors fascinated by its style and presentation hence employed it in their multi lingual renditions. Syed Mukarram Husain was also greatly impressed by its style and wrote a love story named as Bāgh-i Bahar. This important literary work was produced in the era of Alexander John Kalo in 1037 AH. Its only surviving manuscript is preserved in the Punjab University Lahore’s central library. The article introduces the same manuscript along with analysis of different epics of Iran and sub-continent written following the style of Saif-al Muluk.
