DIVISION OF LANGUAGES AND URDU

Morphologically, all languages of the world are divided into four major groups, which are, in true sense, evolutionary stages of language development. They are Mono-syllabic or Isolating, Agglutinative, Inflectional or Amalgamative and Analytical languages. As for as Urdu is concerned, a group of linguists claim it to be a Dravidian language. They count it to be from Agglutinative group with other Dravidian languages. While, majority of linguists lays down that Urdu is an Aryan language and has entered into analytical group of languages. The article is the comparative analysis of these four groups/stages of language evolution with special reference of Urdu.
