Abstract

Hazrat Sultan Bahu (R.A) was born in 1628 in Pind Kaharagān near Shorkot district Jhang. His father’s name was Bazaid Muhammad Awan and his mother’s name was Rasti Bibi. He dedicated his entire life to spreading the teachings of Islam and guiding people toward truth and spirituality. Sultan Bahu was a distinguished Punjabi Sufi poet who wrote in both Punjabi and Persian languages. He is especially known for his Punjabi poetry written in the “Si-Harfi” form. His poetry expresses deep Islamic values such as the belief in one God (Tawheed), love for the Holy Prophet (May Peace and Blessing of ALLAH be upon Him and His whole Family), true spiritual love, remembrance of Allah, wisdom, humility, and moral conduct. It also guides people toward honesty, kindness, humanity, and self-purification. Sultan Bahu’s poetry highlights the importance of a true spiritual guide and warns against falsehood, hypocrisy, and moral corruption. This article presents a critical and thematic study of the religious and spiritual messages found in the poetry of Hazrat Sultan Bahu.
