Abstract

The matchless literary contributions of Meer Anees' family for Urdu literature are unforgettable. The three distinguished ancestors of Meer Anees will always be recognized in the literary history of Urdu. Meer Ghulam Hussain Zahak is the guiding star of light humour, limerick satire and elegy. Meer Hasan is counted among the first rank Urdu poets for his power of narration, depiction of emotions, reflection of scenes and simple but effective style. The elegy of Urdu poetry got its credibility, focus and prominence through Meer Mustahsan Khaleeq. The literary achievements of Meer Anees' forefathers have been recognized in all forms of poetry, however, masnavi and elegy will owe to their poetic works for long.
