Abstract

Quratul Ain Haider's works and that of Arabic fiction writer Nawal El Sadaawi's coincide with each other in terms of thematic and intellectual depth. Specifically, many similarities can be traced between Haider's novel 'Gardsh-e Rang-e-Chaman' and El Sadaawi's 'Woman at Point Zero'. These famous novels depict the character sketches of the poor and marginalized women. Caught in the mire of adverse conditions and cruel patriarchal behaviors of society, these women are sexually exploited by the malicious bigwigs of the society. These women could be everything but prostitutes, but they lose their chastity due to their tragically oppressive circumstances.
