Abstract

This paper is a hermeneutical study of Mirza Ghalib’s last Ghazal which is a reflection of tragic essence and the innovative vision of his life and self. This Ghazal is the summary of Ghalib's life as all verses describe tragic circumstances of different phases that Ghalib faced to prove himself as the greatest poet of Urdu literature. Poetic ideas of this Ghazal like sorrow, death, detachment, free will and predestination, misanthropy, existential sadness, passionate love and self awareness all are discussed through hermeneutic analysis helps to understand Ghalib’ tragic life, unique to himself,  literary genius and personal greatness  particularly in the context of his lifetime sufferings
