Abstract
Comparative studies in world literature started in the early nineteenth century, but not considerable work has come out in this esteem in Urdu literature. Modern Turkish and Urdu poetry began more or less at the same time, but despite hundreds of years of cultural connections, no concerted effort was made to translate modern Turkish poetry into Urdu. In this paper, an effort has been made to compare modern Turkish poetry with modern Urdu poetry. In the above context, the translation work of Prof. Asuman Belen from Turkish to Urdu has been reviewed to explore the poetics of modern Urdu and Turkish poetry. It can be hoped that this paper will open new horizons of comparative studies in the modern Urdu literature.
