Abstract
The great poet of the East Allama Muhammad Iqbal was born at Sialkot district of the Punjab. He infused a new spirit in the Muslims of the subcontinent which consequently resulted in winning freedom for them. Though Allama Iqbal composed his verse only in Urdu and Persian but the influence of his mother tongue -Punjabi and love for the Saint's and Sufis who composed their verses in Punjabi language may be perceived through his poetry. The article besides incorporating examples of Iqbal's liking of Punjabi language, presents a brief comparison of thoughts shared by Iqbal and the legendary poet of the Punjab-Sulatn Baho.
