Novelette is a literary genre originated in Italy back in 14^th century. There are various terms used in the literature for novelette such as short novel, novellat, nouvelle, novella and novella etc. it came from English into sub-continental languages including Punjabi. Though the tradition of novel in Punjabi is well established, novelette as a separate genre has yet not been discussed as it should be. The article focuses the Punjabi novelettes written and published in Pakistan from 1947 to 2020.
