Human beings are of various kinds. The thinkers have categorized them differently. Sheikh Alauddin Ali al-Muttaqi is such a scholar who has also written on the topic. He has classified the people accordingly and has quoted Qura’nic verses and sayings of the Holy Prophet (PBUH) in this regard. He has elucidated such division in his brief treatise titled “Ni’m al Mi’yaar wa al Miqyaas fi Ma’rifah e Maaratib al Naas”. This treatise comprises a four pages manuscript that is hitherto unpublished. The article introduces this manuscript of great value of an Arabic scholar of the Subcontinent.
