Abstract
Jammu Kashmir is a land of matchless natural beauty. After its annexation to the Mughal Empire in 1586, it became the center of art & culture, language & literature, especially Persian literature. Since the Mughal emperors were fond of learning, they encouraged poets, writers and scholars. A galaxy of poets under the umbrella of Mughals contributed richly toward Persian literature. The giants of Persian poetry like Mazhari, Fani, Ghani, Salim, Auji, Fitrati, Furughi, Najmi and Taufiq rose from the valley to prominence in the Mughal period. The article sheds light on the Kashmir-based poets’ literary contributions to Persian literature in the Mughal period.
