Abstract
Sabk e Hindi, a Sub-continent specific style of Persian poetry, is unique style famous for its delicacy, novelty of topics and symbolism. Though this style remained prevalent from the beginning of the eleventh century to the mid of twelfth century, its impact is still felt on contemporary Persian poetry. Neema Yoshij, Mahdi Ikhwan Salis, Farogh Farrukhzad, Suhrab Sapehri, Ahmad Shamlu and Shafi’i Kadkani, etc. are employing this style’s eminent characteristics like personification, sensuality, paradox, and metaphor. The article traces the impact of Sabk e Hindi on modern Persian verse.
