Abstract

There have been many linguistic theories about the origin and development of Urdu language. Syed Shams Ullah Qadri, Muhammad Husain Azad, Sir Syed Ahmed Khan, Imam Buksh Sehbai, Mir Aman Dehlvi, Griersan, Zor Qadri, Hafiz Sherani,Masood Hussain Khan Shaukat Sabzwari, Abu Lais Siddiqui , Akhtar Orenvi ,Gyan Chand jain and Mirza Khalil Ahmed Baig are famous linguists who have represented their views in the light of different historical and political events.Syntactical and grammatical similaritie are the grouds on which they have laid their foundation of linguistic theory. This paper deals particularly with the linguistic theories of Hafiz Mehmood Sherani and Masood Hussain Khan.
