Abstract
Shaykh Ali Al-Muttaqi is one of the prominent personalities of the subcontinent. He was a famous Muhaddith, jurist, writer and sufi. He was initiated in Chishtiyah order by Shaykh Abdul Hakim alias Shaykh Bajan Chishti. He received higher education in Multan. Later on, he permanently settled in Makkah and died there in 975 AH at the age of ninety. He wrote more than 100 books. He compiled a collection of Hadith entitled “Kanz al-Ummal that has equally been praised by the scholars of Arab and non-Arab world. The article discusses the life history and achievements of Shaykh Muttaqi derived from the original sources.
