Abstract

There are many poets of Urdu who employed mystical and metaphysical issues in their verse. Khawja Meer Dard's was an established example of such poetry. Shah Hatim had also written on the same topic. Hatim enjoyed a very high status among Urdu classical poets. He lived longer to compose poetry. He had written less or more on almost all aspects which made him distinguished among classical poets of Urdu. His poetic renditions are rich in mysticism like that of Khawja Meer Dard but with a different tone and tenor. At times it seems as if mystic colour especially oneness of God has been presented through various angles. This article deals with the mystic aspects found in Hatim's classical poetry along a comparison with Dard's.
