Abstract

The issue of terminology in Arabic language has become so complex that it is badly affecting academic advancement and research as the same term is being used differently with the change of geographical or political entity. The academic endeavors lack in harmonious view on the topic. The article in hand is a study of western linguistic terminologies with special reference to Philology and Linguistics. Since these terms have pure western academic background, they should not be employed for Eastern languages especially Arabic language. Arabic language should be studied in light of language sciences introduced by primary and principal scholars of Arabic. The article ends with some suggestions pertaining to adopting of terms unanimously.
