Abstract

The 21th century Urdu poem exhibits great consciousness about objectivity and factuality. It describes the socio-economic and political conditions of Pakistan highlighting major accidents and incidents took place in this era. Poems written in this era are not merely a piece of poetic utterances and expressions but also documented historical instruments which contain circumstantial and objective details. Besides portraying subjective themes, they provide analysis of the effects of inhuman objective situations. There are numerous poems which share and illustrate such themes as post-nine-eleven, the war on terror, terrorism, suicide attacks, bomb blasts, sectarianism, prevailing violent behaviors, class differences and natural disasters and catastrophes like earthquakes, floods and the corona pandemic.
