Abstract

Muhammad Idrees Kandhalvi is widely known for his services in the field of Islamic sciences. He has written many books on the different topics of the Islamic Sciences. He enjoyed command over Arabic language and was well versed in literary beauties of Arabic language. He had also composed verse in Arabic but his poetic flare is least known in the literary circles. This article presents an introductory study of his poetic rendition in Arabic. Besides excerpts and incorporations from Pre-Islamic and Islamic period's verse, his is mainly a pedagogic poetry. He freely employed excerpts from the Holy Qura'n and Hadith. The article covers various aspect of his poetry especially elegy, eulogy, pedagogy and felicitation etc.
