Abstract
The linguists have defined four elementary processes for study and analysis of a language. The first one is study of phonetics of a language. Arabic language has special significance for the Muslims of the Sub-continent for being the language of their faith, culture, history etc. It is why the scholars of the Sub-continental have been paying special attention to Arabic language. This article is a study of work on Arabic phonetics made in modern times by the indigenous scholars. The article not only presents a study covering views of scholars on Arabic phonetics but also opens new avenues of research in this field.
