Abstract
Hakim Abu Al Qasim Ferdowsi, the poet of the epic of Shahnameh, is one of the most celebrated Persian poets. The Shahnameh is the longest epic poem ever created by a single poet and the national epic of Iran. Ferdowsi is one of the most influential Persian poets and the undisputed giants of all times. His work is cited as a crucial component in the persistence of Persian language, as the Shahnameh allowed much of the Persian language to remain codified and intact. In this respect, Ferdowsi surpasses all his contemporaries. The Shahnameh has been translated in many Oriental and Occidental languages. In this article, the English translations of the Shahnameh have been introduced and reviewed.
