Abstract

Omar Khayyam is one of the most celebrated poets of Persian language. He lived during the reign of Saljuqs in Khorasan. Basically he was a mathematician and during his life time nobody even knew about his poetic skills. He was also known as an astronomer. The verse attributed to Omar Khayyam contributed greatly to his popularity and fame in the modern time. Today he is widely known for his Rubayaat instead of his scientific interests. This article endeavors to cover Khayyam's poetic aspect.
