Abstract

Urdu language started its literary journy with poetry. At first, some lines of Urdu were traced in religious magazines.These samples denote that there was no specified rules for Urdu literature; only daily routien discussion was necessary which was mainly influenced by Persian. Prose in Sab Ras seems to be in rhymed Urdu. From here Urdu literature started taking its roots afterwards in North part of the sub-continent and it obtained simplicity in the form of Karbal Katha and Nau tarz-e-Muarssa added colour to it. The article sheds light on developmemt of ancient Urdu and taking its standard shape before Fort William College.
