Abstract
Akhtar-ul-Iman is an established poet of modern poem. Ten anthologies of his poetry and one compilation have been published so far. His verse anthologies include Gardaab, Sub Rung, Tareek Sayyarah, Aab-e-Joo, Yadein, Bint-e-Lamhat, Naya Ahang, Sar-o-Samaan, Zameen Zameen and Zamistan Sard MehriKa. His style of writing is both symbolical and metaphorical which brings precision in his poems. The introduction of short poem in Urdu literature is credited to him. The paper is a study of Akhtar-ul-Iman's short poems.
