Mir Anees is one of the prominent Urdu elegiac poets. His poetry has a strong traditional literary background. There are some aspects and qualities which make his elegiac poetry prominent and attractive among the rest. He has full command on the poetic tools, techniques and traditional wordings employed in elegies. This study sheds light on the salient features of his poetry which include emotional expression, imagery, usage of prosodic and rhetoric elements.
