Abstract

Natural phenomena have significant value in Punjabi poetry, both classical and modern. Trees, plants, shrubs and crops are used as references to enlighten the world; from body to soul. Trees are associated with almost every aspect of human life. This article briefly elaborates countless aspects and meanings related to the greenery of this world used in Punjabi classical folk tales and modern poetry. Local trees, crops and shrubs used as symbols by the Punjabi poets have also been discussed. The article not only focuses Punjabi literary eco-criticism but also explains the relationship of a Punjabi with nature.
