Abstract

M. Salim-ur-Rahman pays handsome tribute to some of his outstanding contemporary poets. Each poem consists of four couplets and an attempt has been made to reflect the sensibility of these poets. The poem about Nasir Kazmi has a subdued tragic touch. Ahmad Mushtaq's tricky simplicity is serenely conveyed. Munir Niazi's lonely and inimitable voice makes itself manifest. Zafar Iqbal's bold experiments in ghazal are commented upon with relish. A poem which is a tribute to Salahuddin Mahmood and indirectly to Mahmood Gilani (a writer of fiction), points out their originality and friendliness. The poem about Zulfiqar Tabish trenchantly portrays his troubled life and artistic excellence. Khurshid Rizvi's accomplishment as a poet has been defined with considerable clarity. These poems are a sort of critical estimation.
