Abstract
Dr. Shahbaz Malik is a renowned researcher, critic, bibliographer, prose writer, teacher, intellectual and broadcaster of Punjabi language. He was born in 1937 in Lahore. He became the first lecturer of Punjabi language, the first assistant professor, the first associate professor and the first full professor. He also worked as the head of the Punjabi department. He was also awarded the Presidential Award for his outstanding services in Punjabi language and literature. He died on November 11, 2024 and was buried in Lahore. Dr Shahbaz Malik wrote more than 40 books in Punjabi and Urdu. He has worked a lot on Punjabi proverbs also. His four books have been published on Proverb namely So Sayane Ako Mat (1967), Sade Akhan (1978), Punjabi Kahawaty (1988) and Sayane Kehinde Nain (2006). In this article proverbs of Punjabi language, their meaning and interpretation are also included.
