Abstract

Dr. Moeen Nizami is a renowned poet of the modern era. He has written various types of poetry, including ghazal, quartrain, (rubai) manqabat and qita but his favourite domain is free verse poetry. Moeen Nizami has a Khanqahi background, which is reflected in his poetry too through the themes of solitude, love for nature and rural life, devotion to Sufism, respect for Sufis, mysticism, ecstasy, purity and inner purification. The beauty of his poems lies in their rich use of imaginative metaphors, phrases, allusions and innovative ideas.Like N. M. Rashid, Moin Nizami's poetry shows profound influence of Persian literature, as it is a field of his special interest. His poems also show a love of nature like Majeed Amjad's poetry.Obviously Moeen Nizami is the leading free verse poet in the present era. His poetry reflects wide range of themes and colors. His unique use of language makes him a great poet of free verse poems. In our literary circles, where ghazal is given more importance, Moeen Nizami's contribution to free verse has gained less attention. But his poems are of high literary and artistic value. Moeen Nizami is one of the few poets who have earned greater respect for the free verse genre.
