Abstract

Hazrat Sheikh Abdul Qadir Gilani was a famous saint, preacher and oponym of the Qadiriyya, one of the oldest Sufi orders. He held the highest position in the hierarchy of Sufi saints. Sheikh Abdul Qadir Gillani was doubly a sayyid. On his father side he descends from Hazrat Imam Hassan and on his mother side he descends from Imam Hussain, Allah be well pleased with Them. Sirr al-Asrar, Ghunyat al Talbeen, Fatuh al Ghaib and al Fathar-Rabbani are his famous books. A lot of saints and scholars paid tribute to him in prose and poetry. Persian poetry has also achieved this grace. This article deals with the valuable Persian poetry by different Sufi poets and scholars in form of manqabat that describes his spiritual significance and virtues.
