Abstract
Dr. Khwaja Muhammad Zakaria is an all-round literary personality. He is an authoritative researcher, critic, and stylistic poet of Urdu language and literature. While he made inroads into other genres of literature, he also continued to write columns for the daily Nawa-e-Waqt under the title "Zouq- o Shoq". The life of a column, which is now considered an important part of Urdu journalism, is usually of one day's duration, but a large part of the topics that Khwaja Zakaria raised with this pen are of permanent importance. He has gone beyond temporary fame and personal interests and has presented the essence of his life experiences in these columns with all sincerity. He has also written a few columns on political topics, but the subject of most of the columns has been literature, literary figures, books and literary events. These are the topics that he has written and read and taught throughout his life, therefore these writings are completely free from superficiality. The style of his columns has taken on a literary elegance that has saved them from being cumbersome and dry. Khwaja Zakaria is also a master of language and an educationist, and his opinions in this regard are very authoritative. An important topic of Khwaja Zakaria's columns is Pakistan. He has adorned the story of the rise and fall of Pakistan in the way he has adorned his columns. This is his specialty. He has a deep awareness of his surroundings and society, and through these columns he has emerged as a social critic in the truest sense.
