Abstract

Describing the realities and facts of human life with all the circumstantial details into literary writings is rightly termed Novel Writing. Irony and Satire are rich colors of humorous life and these colors came into existence with the beginning of the Urdu Novel. Therefore, in this article, Urdu novel writing, in the light of satire and humor has been reviewed, before the establishment of Pakistan in general and post establishment novel writing in particular.  The satirical and humorous elements in the twentieth century’s Urdu novel have been explored; categorized, classified and new trends that flourished in it are introduced.
