Urdu poem has always been in sync with the affairs and issues of its time.Contemporary poem is not only distinguishable from the poem of the 20th century through its intellectual and cultural foundations, but also through its stylistical choices, that is, its language, symbolism, and tropes, it has carved for itself a distinct identity. Ergo, understanding the figurative and metaphorical system of contemporary Urdu poem is indispensable. For this purpose, the subjects explored in Urdu poetry as a result of the new world order, including terrorism, cultural identity, clash of civilizations, consumer culture, global politics, global economic system, and the resulting threats; globalization, the effects of social media, cyberwarfare, the relentless use of mechanical and scientific technology, and uncertainty and absurdity of life have had profound influence on the architecture of poetic metaphors which demands scholastic scrutiny.
