Abstract

After the partition of the subcontinent, there were clear signs of change in the poetics of Urdu Ghazal. Pakistani Ghazal poets transformed the tragedy of migration into verses from their point of view. The political and social landscape of Pakistan changed more rapidly than that of India, which had a direct impact on its literary genres. In this article, the poetics of Pakistani Ghazals till the nineties have been made the subject of a focused study, which will help in understanding the gradual evolution of respective genre.
