Abstract

In terms of creativity,George Orwell is one of the most prolific minds of the 20th century. His novel 1984is examplary because of it’s political theme and it’s artistic presentation. This novel can be discussed in many contexts regarding its meaning. What we have discussed in this article is the negative sources that divert memory, eliminate it, or suppress it.Political and social powers use every tactic to control the human mind.they want to capture the memory of everyone, young as well as childern and old,so that there is no possibility of resistance. In this novel, the novelist has skilfullymapped out all kind of mental and psychological resistances. The text of the novel contains many hints about the future that can be seen in today's post modernsociety. In the analysis of the novel,an attempt is made to reach the logical conclusion that the totalitarian powers are gradually gaining control over the mind of the common man and are able to do whatever they want from him.
