This paper discusses several key points relating to the meter of Arabic poetry. Though the ancient Arabic poetry was not without meter yet Khalil bin Ahmed was the first Arab who discovered the meter and introduced it in Arabic poetry. After Khalil’s introduction of the meter, another interesting aspect of the Arabic poetry’s came forward and many a poet and scholar dedicated their energies on this topic. This article deals with the meter system of the Arabic poetry.
