Abstract

New Historicism is a form of literary study based on the relationship between literature, culture and history. This postmodern literary theory depicts how to analysis and understand the intellectual history through literature. New Historicism claims that literature should be studied and interpreted within the context of both history of the author and history of the critic. The article is a study of Abdullah Husain’s novel Nadaar Log in light of New Historicism. Nadaar Log is a tragedy novel in which Abdullah has successfully presented the sorrowful picture emerged after the creation of Pakistan in 1947.
