Abstract
There is no doubt that humour and satire in Urdu Journalism was formally started with the launching of "Awadh Punch" in 1877. Most of the scholars considered column writing and humoristic journals as main promoter of Urdu literary humour and satire. This article theorizes other than this view point and asserts that they were not the only platforms of humour though they had played a very significant role in this regard. A few misconceptions have also been discussed for exploring the kind of qualitative difference that exist in humour and satire propagated through, column writing, humoristic journals and literary journals.
