Abstract

Haiku is one of the old kinds of Japanese poetry. It comprises  countless topics and expressions related to nature and its phenomena and specific cultural elements of Japan. This kind of poetry is also very unique in terms of form. It consists of three unrhymed lines based on five, seven and five syllables respectively. In Urdu, technical requirements and characteristics of this kind of poetry have not been understood properly. This article is an effort for understanding of this form of poetry.
