Abstract

Mahmoud Tamour is the pioneer fiction writer of modern Arabic literature. He belonged to a literary family of Egypt. His work influenced the aspiring Arab fiction writers. He is also called the Maupassant of the Arab. He penned a good number of short stories and many of his short story collections got  published. He introduced the Arabic short story to new heights. Insaan is one of his master piece short stories. This story revolves around an ailing person who lost hope of life. He developed in himself a kind of indifference towards his society. Finally, his approach got changed and he became optimist.
