Abstract
Imagery is found in the poetry of all ages. But in the modern age it came to be recognized as the most suitable source of expression to cope with the ideas of the rapidly changing era. Urdu poetry is an evident example of this phenomenon. This article defines imagery in the light of both eastern and western criticism. It also includes the sources of the creation of image, its classification and gives a complete introduction to imagery.
