The genre of novel is introduced under the influence of English literature. It is a colonial genre in Urdu. So it has been studied in light of the poetics of English novel. There are not so many novels which have their own trends as Aagka Darya by Quratulain Haider and Basti by Intizar Husain. The most of the novels have borrowed the idea of reality, the idea of man and the idea of time from the English novel. The pioneers of Urdu novel present the English ethics and the vision of imperialism such as Nazir Ahmad and Mirza Ruswa.
