It usually takes great pains to reform her daily life. Its context normally is male oriented. But a different tradition of emancipation has also found place in Urdu novel. Muhammad Ilyas belongs to this tradition. His novels seek an egalitarian society which may not subjugate women. His female characters are vocal, active and full of life.
