Abstract
Munnu Bhai is counted among the first generation of writers of Pakistan Television who has written individual plays, series and serials, for more than three decades. He wrote serious dramas along with light comedies with a tinge of critique, and developed his own unique style, which earned him popularity in the public. His subjects remained changing with time, but he did not deviate from his particular style of writing. This research paper analyzes his playwriting by covering some of his dramas, interviews and columns, and discloses the importance of realism in the drama of PTV. It also covers the factors involved in social realism. In the last decade, he, unlike Haseena Moin and Amjad Islam Amjad, stopped writing plays. This paper also traces the reasons of his self-imposed departure from the world of plays.
