Abstract

The role of Sir Syed Khan in the renaissance of the Muslims of the Sub- continent is epoch making. His main claim to fame is his reformative services he rendered for the betterment of the Muslims along with his educational and literary activities. His reformatory nature may rightly be perceived through the letters written by him. These letters tell a lot about the nature and style of his work of awakening the Muslims. Sheikh Muhammad Ismail Pani Pati compiled these letters in two volumes and published by Masjlis-e-Taraqi e Adab, Lahore. These letters on the one side cover the social, political, educational and religious situation of the Sub-continent and on the other hand they present a comprehensive picture of the efforts of Sir Syed for the uplifting of the Muslims.
