Abstract

Renowned modern Urdu poet Faiz is also known as the poet of revolution though no revolution perpetrated. The voice of the oppressed and the deprived is found in his poetry. He finds more solace in expressing the miseries of the world than in delineating the pangs of physical love. This very concern for humanity raises him to the level of a global poet where his contemporaneous sensitivity transforms him into the poet of the present world. The article presents poetry of Faiz according to the modern perceptions in the light of his own poetry.
