Abstract
Saleem Akhter and Anwar Sadeed are two literary historians who have comprehensively discussed Urdu Essay. Though, they are prominent literary historians, yet they differ in literary trends, concepts, theories, movements and subjects. They have different viewpoints on Urdu Essay. However, their views could not be considered perfect and comprehensive. They have partially exceeded each other at some places. They have adopted a hard and biased stance about the beginning of Essay and its development in Urdu. Their controversial views are reflective of their own schools of thought and contemporary professional biasness. This article consists of a descriptive and comparative study of their exploratory and critical discussions on Urdu Essay.
