Abstract

Munir Niazi makes a variegated use of symbols in his verse. These symbols carry a uniqueness and novelty at every level. Externally they are very simple but internally they have many layers of connotations. These symbols not only mirror the internal feelings and emotions of the poet but also expose the general environment and conditions of the society. Besides, a lot of allusions of fright and horror have made their way in them. This fear and dread have become the fate of a common person; and he is forced to spend his life in their shade. Munir has derived the symbols of witches and ghosts which represent cruel and arrogant forces of society. Through the use of symbols in his poems, Munir has presented a number of aspects of fear, wonder, beauty, etc.
