Dr Saleem Akhtar is a renowned Urdu critic, linguist, Iqbalist, literary historian, teacher and researcher. His main claim to fame is his famous book namely "Urdu Adab ki Mukhtasir Tareen Tareekh". But work on Iqbal Studies is his main forte. He has written many books on life and work of Allama Muhammad Iqbal. He has especially highlighted the aspects of Iqbal Studies which no other Iqbalist has touched so far. He has offered detailed study of his verse as well as prose work.
