Abstract
Mullah Mohsin Fani and Ghani Kashmiri are among the prominent poets of India. Biographers have mentioned Ghani as a disciple of Mohsin Fani. As a student he deliberately followed Fani’s style. This article examines the technical commonalities between the teacher and the student. Ghani emulates many of his teacher's themes and expressions in a precise manner. In some verses, the verbal and semantic similarities are unusually striking. Ghani often composed his ghazals in Fanni’s bahr. He simplified same ideas and made them more lyrical and accessible.
