Abstract
Deputy Nazir Ahmad was a prolific Urdu writer. He was a profound scholar and translator. Besides Urdu rendition of the Holy Quran, he ingeniously translated the Penal Code of India and Income Tax Act from English into Urdu. He was a very good orator and delivered speeches on different occasions. He used the term lecture for his speeches. These speeches have importance in different areas of our history and literature. The article is a detailed study of one of his lectures delivered at Delhi. This lecture illustrates his educational, academic and literary life. The lecture also provides a good understanding about educational life of the Muslims of India of that time. It offers firsthand knowledge of the administrative situation of the princely state of Hyderabad Deccan as well.
